GLOBE — The Globe Tiger boys basketball team raised their overall record to 12-3 by going 4-0 and winning the 37 Annual Copper Cities Tournament.
The tournament was held on Dec. 28-29.
The Tigers opened the tournament with a 73-59 win vs St. Johns.
BJ Burries and Braden Dalton led the Tigers in scoring with 27 and 17 points, respectively. Cory Chee added 9, Martine Reede and Brandon Pina contributed 7 each, Jeremy Jones hit for 4, and Daniel Widner chipped in 2.
The Tigers took on Douglas in game two and won 67-56.
BJ Burries led all scorers with 27 points. Brandon Pina popped in 10, Cory Chee and Braden Dalton each netted 9, Daniel Widner, Rafael Dominguez, Martine Reede, and Jeremy Jones all contributed 3 points each.
In game three, the Tigers defeated Catalina 59-50 with BJ Burries hitting for 27 for the 3rd game in a row. Braden Dalton added 10, Marine Reede 7, Daniel Widner 6, Jeremy Jones 5, Cory Chee and Bradon Pina added 2 each.
The Tigers faced Benjamin Frankin in the championship game and came away with a 70-48 victory. BJ Burries (19), Braden Dalton (16), and Cory Chee (13) led the Tigers in scoring. Daniel Widner and Brandon Pina added 5 each, Jeremy Jones 4, Aaron Smith and Martine Reede added 3 each, and Geron Como chipped in 2 points.
“I am really proud of the boys for winning the Copper Cities Tournament-it’s been awhile since that’s happened”, Coach James Simmons stated.
“We faced some really good competition and were able to withstand some scoring runs by the other teams to go undefeated”, Simmons added.
