Three arrested in early morning crime spree

On March 11 at about 4:17 a.m., a witness reported hearing breaking glass and people yelling in the area of 434 S. Hill St. The Globe Police Department responded, and on arrival officers heard voices and movement inside of a guest house behind the main residence.

Officers detained Sergio Murrieta at the scene. Two others, later identified as David Scott and Matthew Harper, fled on foot.

Responding officers used a fire extinguisher to put out a fire in the residence. Investigation revealed extensive damage to the guest house, broken windows and holes in the drywall.

Scott was later located at 5:06 a.m. and arrested on railroad property in the 300 Block of S. Broad St. Harper was located at E. Highway 60 and Main Street at 5:54 am. and arrested.

Murrieta, Scott and Harper were booked into the Gila County Jail for Arson of an Occupied Structure, a Class 2 Felony, Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a Class 3 Felony and Criminal Damage, a Class 5 Felony. Harper had an additional charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class 6 Felony.
