EDITOR: Save these important dates — Sept. 11-14 — for the Old Dominion Days Celebration.

The Copper Dance Ball is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14. Carmen Slough and a few others were lucky enough to actually experience a real ball dance when they were popular. Here is a perfect opportunity for all of us to experience and relive that past through vintage formal apparel and music.
Picture yourself dressed in the vintage formal wear from the early 1900s to the 1940s mingling and dancing to Swing, Jazz and Ballroom music.
Ladies and gentlemen don’t fret or worry as to what to wear. We have that all planned out for you — it’s called shop local. There are a few businesses here in Globe-Miami that carry and sell vintage apparel.
To give you an idea of what to wear to the ball, in the near future we will print the latest fashions in the newspaper and a video to watch on the Gila County Historical Museum Facebook.
Stay tuned for more details to come.
