Susan G. Velarde was called home to be with Our Lord on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023. She was born May 24, 1949, in Globe, Az. to Jubencio P. Garcia and Margarita Garcia. She was the oldest of three children. Growing up, she enjoyed the family trips to Mexico to visit her grandparents and cousins. Suzie, as many called her, attended Noftsger Hill School, Hill Street School and Globe High School, where she graduated in 1967.

Aft er high school, Suzie followed her passion and became a cosmetologist as a hairdresser for many years. Suzie also worked as a job coordinator at the Department of Economic Security for five years. Suzie then went to work as a customer service representative for the Social Security Administration, where she retired.

During Suzie’s life she had many kind friends and kept in touch with them often. She loved to hear about their life events and was always happy to be talking with them, either through passing or on the phone. Suzie made sure your belly was full and you never went hungry. So you better believe you ate, otherwise she would let you know. Suzie remained in Globe her entire life.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023 at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Lamont Mortuary in Globe.
