Supervisor Tommie Cline Martin completes year as President of County Supervisors Association

Completing a successful year of service, Gila County Supervisor Tommie Cline Martin ended her tenure as President of the County Supervisors Association (CSA) at the organization’s Board of Directors meeting on November 16, 2017.

“I am deeply grateful for the privilege of serving as president of this outstanding organization this year,” Supervisor Martin said.  “The work of CSA is essential to supporting local county operations in Arizona and I was thankful that this past year our advocacy for county priorities at the state legislature was successful.”

Incoming CSA President and Pinal County Supervisor Anthony Smith credited Supervisor Martin with leading a strong coalition of counties dedicated to promoting efficient, responsive county government. “During the past five years that I have known Supervisor Martin, she has proven to be a passionate public servant and a strong community leader.  Due to her numerous years of public service, we were all able to learn so much from her experience and dedication to county government.  She did an outstanding job leading CSA this year and positioned the organization for continued success going forward.”

During her term as CSA President, Supervisor Martin built a strong collaboration among county officials and state lawmakers to address important issues impacting county operations and constituent services.  Her leadership helped ensure county leaders had a voice in major policy items under consideration during the 2017 state legislative session.  President Martin helped counties to obtain significant financial relief totaling $19.6 million in 2017, which included resources for roads and reducing juvenile detention costs.

Supervisor Martin shared, “Serving as your president was a wonderful experience and I was able to establish even closer relationships with all 60 of my colleagues.  I am excited to work toward to continued success and achievements in the coming years.”

CSA Executive Director, Craig Sullivan shared, “Supervisor Martin is an outstanding and respected public official, and I am deeply grateful for the tireless work, leadership and guidance she brought to our association. And, because of the strategic direction she helped us develop, she ensured counties and the state will continue to be partners in serving Arizonans.  We are grateful she will continue to serve on our leadership team and our board for years to come.”

CSA is a non-partisan research and advocacy organization representing the 61 county supervisors leading Arizona’s 15 counties.  For more than 30 years, CSA has served as a forum for county leaders to address important issues facing local constituents and develop a proactive state and federal policy agenda.
