The Globe Library will open its summer reading program with a 2018 Summer Reading Concert Kick-Off at Harbison Football Field on Saturday, June 9. Gates open at 5 p.m.
The theme of the free, family event is “Libraries Rock,” and there will be music from the 1980s performed by Scottsdale’s Urban Fiction to kick off the 2018 summer reading program. Urban Fiction will take the stage from 6-8 p.m.
Bring blankets and lawn chairs for a night of big-haired entertainment. There will be a big hair contest prior to the band taking the stage, karaoke and photo booths, exhibitors and much more. Outside food is allowed, but there will also be food trucks on site. The event is tobacco and alcohol free and all children must be accompanied by adults.
The event is sponsored by the Globe-Miami Community Concert Association; City of Globe; Friends of the Globe Public Library; Globe Unified School District; Globe Public Library and the United Fund of Globe-Miami.
