Stella P Henderson passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019. She was 98 years old.
She is survived by her 2 children, Fran Ritchey and Richard Henderson, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She is reunited in Heaven with her son, Norman Henderson and grandson, David Ritchey.
Born in Phoenix, Ariz. on November 20, 1920, she moved to Globe, Ariz. when she married Bert Henderson and remained a lifetime resident. She and Bert were married for 50 years until his death in 1984.
Together they owned the Henry Haven’s Ranch, now known as the Henderson Ranch. They loved to travel and took many vacations and cruises together.
Stella loved her community and was actively involved. She participated in volunteer work her whole lifetime, even earning an award for Globe Volunteer of the Year.
She also owned her own business filling and maintaining popcorn machines throughout the town of Globe. She even provided popcorn for Globe High School when they had their events.
She worked for H&R Block as a tax preparer and as a book keeper for Sun Laboratories. She and Bert also owned the concession stand at the Globe-Miami Speedway during the Jalopy races for a few years and became famous for her delicious cheeseburgers wrapped in wax paper. For decades she was also a member of the Odd Fellow’s Union as a Rebecca.
Stella had a great passion for everyone in her family.
She knew no stranger and helped everyone who came to her door. She was the Matriarch of our family and we loved her very much. We already miss her warm hugs, generous wisdom, solid advice and kind words she so freely shared.
Services pending at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Globe, Ariz.
