Got a court date, need to pay a fine or answer a summons? Most routine business can be handled by phone, but make sure to bring a facemask or equivalent covering if you can’t avoid a visit in person -- starting June 1, they’re required to enter the courthouse.

Judges and staff across Gila County’s court system expressed their appreciation last week to everyone from routine court users to claimants and attorneys for using the phone, email and website to conduct business during May. This helpful compliance with court requirements reduced visits and enhanced safety, mitigating the spread of covid-19, while still allowing the courts to fulfill their essential function and service to the public.

If you’re unable to avoid a visit in person, you’ll see more court staff wearing facemasks – and, starting June 1, make sure to bring yours: masks will be required of anyone entering court buildings in both Globe and Payson. Official language says that effective June 1: “any visitor to the courthouses in Payson or Globe will be required to wear a mask, face covering, or face shield.”

If you’re unable to secure a mask of your own, one will be provided for you  (but you should definitely plan to bring your own, more comfortable or familiar mask).
