Rayel Starling, of Globe, recently received the Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit Award at the district adult volunteer recognition on Nov. 8 in Globe. The District Award of Merit is the highest adult recognition that can be given at the district level. Starling has been heavily involved locally in scouting since moving to the area from Wisconsin in 2016. She has been instrumental in the annual cub scout day camp and has led the monthly cub scout roundtable. Prior to her local scouting service, she served in various capacities in scouts in Wisconsin and in Tucson. In all, she has served more than 20 years in scouting.
