Shirley Steiner McClinton died peacefully in her home, on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. She was 78 years old.
Shirley Steiner Rood was born Dec. 17, 1938, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. However, Arizona had been her home for more than 60 years. Shirley married Walter “Sunny” McClinton on April 6, 1957, and was his wife and constant companion for more than 57 years, until Walter passed away in September 2014.
She was an avid reader and loved curling up with a good book. She also shared with friends and family, books or newspaper articles she found regarding food, health and science that would be of interest.
But what Shirley treasured and made time to share with others regularly was God’s comforting words from the Holy Scriptures. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses she shared that Scriptural truth from John 17:3 - “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.” She and millions look forward to God’s promise at Revelation 21:4 - “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Memorial Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5985 Electric Drive, Globe, AZ 85501.
