The Miami girls’ basketball team won two of three games last week to improve its record to 4-10.
On Friday, the Lady Vandals got a career-high 23 points from Jasenia Quezada as they defeated San Miguel 43-29 in Tucson. Jessica Garcia added five points, 16 rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Jalen Pike scored nine points and also had seven rebounds and three steals. Mackenzie Anthony contributed two points, four rebounds and 10 steals while Estrella Salazar had four points, 13 rebounds and six steals.
On Thursday, Miami lost 49-15 to Desert Christian. Quezada led Miami with eight points while Garcia finished with three points and four rebounds.
The Lady Vandals used strong shooting to defeat St. Augustine 36-31 on Jan. 15, as they made six 3-pointers in the third quarter. Pike made three of those triples and tallied nine points, six rebounds and five assists.
Quezada scored a game-high 12 points to go along with seven steals. Garcia registered nine points, seven rebounds and five assists. Salazar had four points and seven rebounds.
Miami plays at Desert Christian (Tucson) on Friday.
