A list of completed passes couldn’t carry the offense to the end zone on Friday night, when the Globe Tigers lost to the San Tan Charter Roadrunners, 28-6.

This Roadrunners Homecoming win puts the small charter school of 400 students at 1-2 in the 2A Salt Division. San Tan Charter put up 385 total yards, 170 passing yards, and 215 rushing yards against a limited Tigers varsity team. Eligibility issues resulted in Globe starters playing both offense and defense against an eager San Tan Charter.

Globe managed to put points up early in the game with a caught pass that earned WR Seth Fane the number two spot on MaxPreps’ longest pass highlight reel. The senior caught an 85-yard touchdown pass from senior QB Caden Hansen. “I didn’t think I was going to catch the deep pass Caden threw to me on that play,” said an excited Fane. “I managed to throw the cornerback off me since that team liked to hold a lot.”

The Tigers’ top three defensive players were Seth Durbin, with five tackles and one interception, Gus Curiel, with six tackles and one fumble recovery, and Angel Hernandez, with 3.5 tackles.

Player of the game Seth Durbin told the Arizona Silver Belt that ineligible players created a difficult scene in San Tan. “It was a rough loss just because we have a lot of key players ineligible so we had different players playing different positions that they had to learn in four days,” said Durbin. “It was good making player of the game but I was just doing anything I could possibly do to help my team out by making plays and tackles.”

The Globe Tigers finished the game with 232 total yards, 254 passing yards, and -22 rushing yards.
