Salvador “Sal” Casillas, 83

Posted

Salvador “Sal” Casillas, 83, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 8, 2021. Sal’s zest for life and love for his family (including his dogs) were second to none. He loved golfing with his family and friends, camping, traveling, the Arizona Cardinals and really any sport involving a ball. He developed a talent for woodworking just like his dad, and if you have one of his pieces you can consider yourself lucky. He owned Cobre Valley Glass Company with his wife Lanie for 40 years. He loved to work and worked his butt off all of his life. He always stayed busy; even through his sickest days you couldn’t keep him down. Toyota rides with Dad were white knuckle events; no road too rough, no mountain too high! Sal was loved by everyone who knew him. He fought this battle for over two years, not only for himself but for all of us. Life without him will never be the same.

He is survived by his wife Delores “Lanie” Casillas; sons Steven (Robb) Casillas, Mike (Brenda) Coones and Steve Coones; daughters Deanna Casillas, Mitzi (Ralph) Hill, Melanie (Ron) Hall and Victoria (Rick) Tarasuck; brothers Manuel “Manny” (Mary) Casillas, Jesus “Chuy” (Rosie) Casillas, Fred (Pam) Casillas, Larry (Dorothy) Casillas and Ralph (Diana) Casillas; sisters Margaret (Art) Bejarano and Gloria (Art) Contreras; and sister-in-law Gloria Casillas. Sal was a proud grandfather of 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel “Chito” Casillas and Dolores “Lola” Casillas along with his brother Robert Casillas.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of Sal’s favorite charities: High Desert Humane Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Food Bank.

His services were on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Globe, Arizona.
