The CCYS Globe Miami Piranha Swim Team had a successful and fun 2018 swim season. Our team has been part of the community since the 1980s and it continues to remain strong with the outstanding efforts from some many people.

We would like to thank our volunteers Jeannette Voelker, Kara Satter and Leslie Parker who spend countless hours organizing prior to the season and throughout the time the children are in the pool. This summer we had Barry Schwenk as our head coach and Jennifer Werrell as assistant coach.

The team improved tremendously in technique and strategies as a result of Barry and Jennifer’s expertise. The team is very thankful for their interest in enabling the local swimmers to develop into stronger swimmers.

Also, the Piranhas would like to thank the Town of Miami, pool managers and lifeguards. We had practices five mornings a week and hosted two home meets at the Hostetler Pool. The lifeguards and managers were there every day helping us in many ways to have the pool ready. This year the Hostetler Pool received much needed renovations and the CCYS Piranhas would especially like to thank those that made it possible.

We would like to thank United Fund, Gila County, Globe Rotary Club, Resolution Copper, Southwest Gas, Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center, Copper Cities Youth Sports, Dolphin Pool Maintenance, Freeport-McMoRan, 5D Mining, APS, BHP, and Capstone-Pinto Valley Mine. From all their efforts and support, the pool was repaired for our team and the community.

We know there is not only a need to have a community pool for hosting a local swim team but also for children and adults use for wellness, recreation and developing skills. Lastly, we would like to thank the swim team members and their families.

Our team has an exceptional group of youth- both new swimmers and returning swimmers. The group of kids work hard, respect one another and have the comradery that is a group to admire. Every parent should be proud of their swim team child.

We are looking forward to the 2019 swim team season!

With great appreciation,

CCYS Globe Miami Piranha Swim Team
