GLOBE — Angela Olson (seated) is winner of a raffle sponsored by Apache Gold Casino for a steak dinner for two at the Apache Gold Steak House.
Standing at Angela’s right is JoEllen Davis, a member of Elder Quality of Life (EQL), a task group of Southern Gila County- Economic Development Corporation (SGC-EDC).
EQL was formed back when Chris Martin led the EDC.
This task group, under the leadership of Joanne Zache, has fostered various efforts.
When the community had no hospice services, EQL fostered that. EQL managed a nursing scholarship at the local community college when the community had a nursing shortage.
Just before the last economic downturn and back when the EDC, EQL had a company interested in starting an Adult Daycare and another company studying the feasibility of building housing with levels of care for elders here in our area.
Our community is a system and under Systems Theory when one part is helped, the other parts are helped also.
EQL meets every other Thursday in the meeting room of Aviant Hospice.
If we improve the quality of life for Elders, it will impact the quality of life for the whole community.
If interested, join us in our efforts.
