Olivia Teresa (Hoffman) Lacapa

Posted

We are overwhelmed with gratitude from all the friends, family and acquaintances near and far who sent messages and have shown their love and sympathy to us in every way imaginable. Thank you all. Olivia Teresa (Hoffman) Lacapa was born Oct. 22, 1958 in Peridot, Arizona. She passed on Saturday June 18, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Alexander and Eileen Hoffman. She is survived by her husband Andrew Lacapa, her children Julie Lacapa, Jonathan Lacapa and Joni Lacapa-Titla, and many grandchildren.

Olivia fulfilled many roles within the community. However, she was above all things an educator. The places she taught include Whiteriver Headstart, 7 Mile Elementary, Whiteriver Elementary, Theodore Roosevelt School, Cradleboard Elementary and John F. Kennedy Day School. She loved her students and the opportunity to enrich the lives of our community youth through education. She was also an avid student and attended the following institutions while attaining her master’s degree in Education: Northland Pioneer College, Phoenix College, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University.

Olivia also advised her family and others through traditional ceremonies, life transitions, celebratory occasions and major crossroads. She was a pillar of strength to those blessed to have her in their lives. She was also a total sweetheart and goofball when she wanted to be. It is impossible to articulate how much her life’s work means to us or others. We will miss her greatly is an understatement. A piece of us goes with her. We invite you all to celebrate her life with us and pay your respects at this time.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2022, with viewing starting at 10 a.m., at Olivia’s home in Jurassic Park, Whiteriver, Arizona. Services included stories of her life from family and friends.

Prayers and blessings upon you all. Thank you. Askwali. Ashoog.’ Andrew, Julie, Jon and Joni.
