On Feb. 5 Superior Police Department arrested 29 year old Xavier Padilla for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Sergeant Sosa made contact with Padilla on Lobb and Porphyry. Xavier currently had a valid felony warrant for his arrest. As Sgt. Sosa was apprehending Padilla an altercation ensued. During the altercation, Sgt. Sosa was stabbed in the leg, narrowly missing his femoral artery. Pinal County Sheriff Office Deputies were in the area and assisted Sgt. Sosa with the arrest. Padilla was taken into custody without further incident.
Sgt. Sosa is a four year veteran of the Superior Police Department. He was taken to a local hospital for medical attention. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has assumed the investigation.
Padilla was booked into the Pinal County Jail. Charges are being submitted to the County Attorney’s Office.
