Letters of nomination for the annual Citizen of the Year and the Kip Culver awards are now open. Winners will be announced the Jan. 18 dinner at the Dream Manor Inn.
The Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award recognizes longtime community service in a variety of civic and community areas by someone who volunteers their time in programs and efforts outside their job duties.
The Kip Culver Award recognizes work within the arena of arts and/or historic preservation in the Globe-Miami area, as Culver was especially passionate about both. For this award, judging criteria is based on the type and depth of work benefiting the arts community and/or historic preservation programs in Globe-Miami. It is made in memory of Kip Culver and his many, many contributions to historic preservation and the arts in the local area.
Once again this year, the chamber is partnering with the Pinal Mountain Foundation for Higher Education for their annual art auction. The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with no-host social hour, followed by dinner.
Rather than a speaker, the dinner program will consist of announcement of award winners by the chamber. Following that, the college foundation will move into its annual event with live and silent auction items up for bid, with proceeds to go to scholarships at the Gila Community College.
Tickets for the dinner are $35 per person and reservations can be made through the chamber at 425-4495. Letters of nomination may be mailed or dropped off to the chamber, 1360 N. Broad St., Globe. Letters should explain in detail the work done by the nominee. Nomination letters are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 at the chamber.
For more information on the dinner or how to make a nomination, please email director@globemiamichamber.com or call 928-425-4495. Nomination forms are available at the chamber.
