On Saturday, March 14, 2020, the San Carlos Apache Tribal Council passed Resolution MR-20-033 declaring a State of Emergency due to the recent cases of COVID-19 reaching closer to the reservation boundaries. The Tribal Council has authorized tribal employees to work from home if possible or for employees to be placed on thirty (30) days of administrative leave.
In light of this declaration, the Nnee Bich’o Nii Program offices in San Carlos and Bylas will be operating an as-needed basis; formal plans were not available to time of print.
Apache Transit has suspended all local routes during the State of Emergency. They will, however, continue to transport Apache Gold and Apache Sky Casino employees.
The Nnee Bich’o Nii Apache Transit TEAM is always going the extra mile to keep their passengers and the public safe with their state-of-the-art GPS tracking system and their well-trained drivers. The TEAM is always looking ahead, into the future, for better ways to provide their valuable service.
The Apache Transit Drivers take great pride in their department and their fleet. On a daily basis, the drivers clean and sanitize their bus or van; they wipe down the rails and seats with disinfecting wipes and spray disinfectant in each vehicle. The buses are washed on a regular basis. It is rare to see an Apache Transit bus or van in need of a wash.
As reports of the COVID-19 epidemic spread around the world, the Apache Transit TEAM began taking extra steps to do their part to stop the spread of this terrifying virus. Now, they are wiping down the rails and seats several times throughout their routes. The added feature in their routine is the germ fogger that is set off in each bus at the end of the day. It is a hospital-grade disinfectant that thoroughly covers all hard surfaces that might have been missed, overlooked or hard to reach. It effectively kills germs and bacteria and eliminates any odors. They will continue this practice until the COVID-19 virus has been contained.
The Nnee Bich’o Nii Apache Transit TEAM would like the assure the public that they are taking these measures to create a healthier environment for their passengers. Safety is their number one goal.
