Michael L Martinez, 64. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael on Sept. 13, 2019 at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Ariz. he passed peacefully after battling kidney disease among other health complications.
Michael was born on Nov. 5, 1954 to Leandro and Evangeline (Lopez) Martinez in Miami, Ariz. He attended the Miami School System and then started working for the mines However, Michael did spend most of his working career as a Public Works Employee for the Town of Miami giving 23 years of service. Throughout Michael’s life he enjoyed hunting and camping. Michael was also a member of the Moose Lodge and was proud to play Santa during the holidays. He also played on dart teams and enjoyed music and dancing. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Michael was warm hearted and would help others at a moment’s notice. Michael is preceded in death by his parents and siblings David Martinez, Gilbert Martinez, Diane Montoya, John Martinez, Priscilla Ortiz and Lorraine Chavez. Michael is survived by his wife of 20 years, Charlene Martinez, his two stepsons Christian and Brian Harmon of Tucson Ariz., Nicholas (Kay) Martinez of Bagdad, Ariz. and Patrick (Gina) Martinez of Vancouver, WA. A special nod to Michael’s loving Aunt Margaret (Fielimon) Lopez who was so kind and supportive throughout Michael’s and his siblings’ lives. Many cousins survive Michael and many fond memories were made throughout the years with them. Many loving nephews and nieces which Michael enjoyed time with. Michael was an animal lover and leaves behind his dog Oso and his cat Ninja. Services for Michael will be Oct. 12, 2019 beginning with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami, Arizona.
It will be followed by a Celebration of Life/Mass at 11 a.m. and a reception to follow at noon in the church hall.
