Miami provides resources for residents to receive vaccines

Posted

The Town of Miami actively supports Gila County’s efforts to provide Covid-19 vaccines to residents. We know that the current Covid-19 situation has been felt by all and has a greater impact on the economically disadvantaged in our community. Some of the major barriers to accessing the Covid-19 vaccine include transportation to and from the vaccine appointment and limited-to-no access to internet. Miami is committed to helping remove those barriers, so anyone who wants a Covid-19 vaccine is able to access the vaccine.

Miami is providing free transportation through the Copper Mountain Transit Authority for those going to and from a Covid-19 vaccine appointment in southern Gila County. This service is available through the transit program and through Dial-A-Ride. Dial-A-Ride will be accessible depending on availability and we encourage residents to call ahead to use that service for transportation to a Covid-19 vaccine appointment. Services are available by calling the Copper Mountain Transit Authority at (928) 473-8222.

Miami is grateful for Gila County’s work to make the vaccine appointment registration available online.

To help support residents with limited-to-no access to the internet, Miami has designated three places for residents to be able to register for a Covid-19 vaccine appointment.

Miami Town Hall, Miami Public Library, and the Miami Police Department are designated locations, equipped with a publicly accessible computer, for any resident to register for a Covid-19 vaccine appointment.

Laptops are set up at Miami Town Hall and the Miami Police Department using voting booths loaned by the Gila County Elections Department, and there are several computers available for use at the Miami Library. Laptops and computers are disinfected after use and at the end of each day. The computers are available during office hours at each location until April 30.
