Miami has a strong team in Cross Country with four runners qualifying for the State Championship race to be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 8:30 a.m. at Cave Creek Golf Course 15202 N. 19 Ave., in Phoenix.

The girl’s race will start at 8:30 a.m. and the boys will take off at 9:30.

Jalen Pike came in 23rd in the sectional race last Wednesday in Gilbert and Mycala Stapleton came in 14th.

Ryan Tidley came in 17th in the Boy’s sectional race and David Pena came in 15th.

Only the top 25 runners in the sectional races get to go to State.

According to Miami Athletic Director, James Hicklin, this is the first time in two years that girls from Miami have qualified for State in cross country, and the first time in more than 20 years that any boys from Miami have made the grade.
