Ma’s Kitchen is “Americana”

Posted

Thirty minutes or so, north of Globe, by Lake Roosevelt, is a tiny family restaurant that defines the essence of what America is.

Ma’s Kitchen owners, Mike and Ronda Minadeo and their daughter Tammy Goodin, have been in business for 17 years. Great service and great food defines them.

They are open, Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday 8 to 10:30 a.m.

Friday’s is the extremely popular fish night, but it really doesn’t matter what you order, it’s all delicious food. Dad has been cooking for well over fifty years, and prepares each plate perfectly.

They feel family owned businesses are the backbone of our nation. Naturally now, due to the virus, it’s just take out. Tammy said, “We are hopeful Arizona will allow restaurants to open inside dining in the next couple weeks.”

Referring to the virus she went on to say, “It has been really tough for us, but our attitude doesn’t change. We all pitch in, and just make it work.” She continued, “ I feel this (Not Changing ) attitude about working is how America’s businesses stay afloat.”

Country singer Moe Bandy spoke of a (Not Changing) attitude when he performed a song titled “Americana.” It’s a great piece. (Pull it up on You Tube.)

The lyrics describe the singer driving off the main highway and visiting a small town in America. The last two lines of one stanza reads,

I saw so many reasons why I love this country,

You know some things never really change at all.”

Well those good old fashioned American values haven’t changed at MA’s!

To get there from Globe, drive to Roosevelt Lake. Turn right on Roosevelt Estates Road then make another right on Mesquite Street. Ma’s is at the end of Mesquite. Remember, it’s cash or check only. No credit cards.

Mike said, “We care about people the way we would like them to care about us.” This Golden Rule attitude is Ma’s Kitchen.

Quite simply it’s AMERICA!
