Lounelle A. Van Horn, 90

Posted

Lounelle A. Van Horn (Mary Lounelle Van Horn) was born on April 22, 1927 in Apex, North Carolina to the late Robert Lincoln Atkins and Mary Helen Watkins. She passes away December 12, 2017 at the age of 90, peacefully in her home in Globe, Az surrounded by loved ones.

Lounelle was raised in North Carolina where she attended school and eventually met her high school sweetheart and future husband Horace M. Barber. She loved telling stories of picking tobacco as a young girl on her grandparents farm and of her adventures in Thailand while her husband was in the Navy. Some of her favorite things to do were reading books and watching old western movies. She also loved camping, fishing, gardening, sewing and the joys that come with having children in the home. She loved to be in the company of her friends and loved ones. She had a special place in her heart for children and some of her best smiles and laughs could be heard in their presence. Lounelle spent a large portion of her life helping others in many different ways and found that it gave her great joy and fulfillment.

She is survived by her son Horace M. Barber II, sister LaRue Myatt and granddaughter Heather Barber. She has arranged not to have any services, but instead to be placed with her first husband Horace, in Punchbowl, Hawaii. Her southern saas, sweet spirit and laughter will truly be missed.

With love,
