Gila County, Az. John Arthur (Art) Wilder Sr. 82 passed away, Feb. 11, 2020 at 5:11 p.m. at his home in Globe, Ariz. with his daughter by his side. Mr. Wilder was born on July 1, 1937 in Corning, Ohio to Herschel Arthur Wilder and Edna May (Dobson) Wilder. After high school Art served in the United States Marine Corps, while on leave he met Wilma June Gundrum. They married on May 3, 1959 while living in Sturgis together they had three children John Arthur (Barbara Ann) Wilder Jr., Brenda Lea (Roland Lee) Smith, Renea Violet (Pete) Shaffer. They moved from Sturgis, MI to Jackson, MI in 1966 shortly after their youngest daughter’s birth and lived on a farm that he worked with his family. Art also worked for Scovill manufacturers where he worked doing office work maintenance and drove truck until they closed. After that, he went to college to become a drafter. On completion of college, he landed a job at mechanical products where he drafted a circuit breaker for the spaceship Columbia receiving High Honors from NASA leaders with a dinner and a plaque, the ladies that work under him called him King Arthur. After retirement in 1993 Art and Wilma moved to Globe, Ariz. to be with and care for his dad that passed Oct. 15 of 1997. Art was a former longtime member of The Gila County Sheriff Posse, Search and Rescue putting in more volunteer hours that could ever be counted for. A lifelong member of the NRA and the National Hunting and Fishing Association.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He always stated, “A family that works together, plays together, stays together.” As well as Camping, Hunting, and Fishing. Art is survived by his wife of 60 years Wilma with their three children John, Brenda and Renea, their spouses and his grandkids Rebecca (Josh) Eichler, Ashley (Scott) Harris, Britnie (Jr) Shouse, Desiree, Alexis, Chelsey, and two step grandchildren Lee and Amber. Preceded in death by his grandson Justin Harland Shaffer, step great grandson Nickolas Smith. Art is also survived by his stepmother Dwana Wilder, three sisters Marlene, Edna, Luana, two brothers Hurshel and Herbert. Several great-grandchildren nieces and nephews along with many friends.
