Joe Guglielmo, 93

Posted

Joe Guglielmo passed away in his home on the morning of June 14, 2020 at the age of 93.

He was one of nine siblings growing up in a small home in Miami and later graduated from Miami High School class of 1946.

Joe went on to work for Miami Inspiration mine and retired in 1982. After retirement he delved deep into his love of hunting and the outdoors and started guiding for Aravaipa Outfitters. He was proud to have guided for two world record setting big horn sheep hunts. Joe did his part in trail preservation, worked closely with Game & Fish for wildlife conservation and did his part in support of Operation Game Thief.

When he was not outside you could often find him in his workshop. He was known for his woodwork and made his own bows, beautiful ducks and geese, clocks, and various other pieces his family and friends still treasure. Joe was skilled not only in woodworking but also created a backpack frame from fiberglass laminate that he later went on to patent.

He was involved in the Globe/Miami community and was active in the Apache Bowhunters Club and Lions Club as well.

If you were lucky, Joe would take you for a spin on the dance floor and boy could he dance! Joe and his wife Norie were a big hit at family gatherings when the two of them would dance together, the rest of the crowd would pause just to watch the two of them.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Norie Guglielmo. He leaves behind four children: Ken Guglielmo, Tom (Kelly) Guglielmo, Tina (Kevin) Caldwell, and Mark (Lisa) Guglielmo. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Joe left such a beautiful legacy for his family and friends to remember. How lucky we are to have had the pleasure of knowing and loving such a great man.
