Joe Calvillo, born Feb. 18, 1940; died Jan. 22, 2019.

Joe Calvillo joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating high school in 1958. After his basic training he went to ground support equipment tech school at Francis E. Warren AFB in Wyoming. Joe graduated and got his first assignment as a ground support equipment mechanic at Loring AFB, Maine. He spent six months there and was assigned to Guam for 18 months, then was assigned to Bunker Hill, Ind. After he served his four-year tour, he was discharged and returned to his hometown of Globe. He went to work for the mines as a haulage truck driver, driving trucks 40 to 240 ton in weight. He also worked underground in Superior for six years, then drove an 18-wheeler all over the U.S. and Canada.

Joe was married four times: he is survived by Mary Lee Calvillo, former wife and dear friend. There are six children; Lisa Roberts, Debbie Gonzales, Kathy Swope, Dino Calvillo, August Calvillo, William Rocha, and three step-children; Cynthia Peterson, Bobby Bejar and Charlie Bejar. He has 16 grandkids; Rachel Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Sarah Gonzales, Stephen Gonzales, Justin Swope, Zachery Swope, Marissa Calvillo, Alexis Calvillo, Tori Calvillo, Zachary Calvillo, Ryan Lamb, Tresta Pina, and Christian Calvillo, Aaliyah Cruz, Alize Cruz, Angel Calvillo. Joe also has five great-grandkids; Abel Gonzales, Brianna Gonzales, Avianna Gonzales, Autumn Calvillo and Brayden Lawson.

Joe loved classic cars and finished the restoration of his 1950 two-door Mercury sedan amongst several he had restored over the years. He was an animal lover and always tended to his own animals and others. He had a huge place in his heart for his fur babies, and he will be sadly missed.
