Dylan Earven a young boy who battled cancer on and off from the age of 3 to 7-years-old has touched many lives throughout the community and through his legacy with the Dylan Earven Foundation he touched one special 4-year-old little boy in particular, Brady Asanovich.

Asanovich is a current Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM) survivor, whom lives with his parents Brian and Emily Asanovich, in Phoenix.

Miami H.S. graduate Brian and his wife Emily were nearly blindsided when this disease impacted them, as it is very similar to Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

The morning of April 26, 2016 the lives of Brian and Emily came to a complete halt when they witnessed their 2-year-old son at the time have a seizure. For the next five days Asanovich was in an induced coma where doctors were concerned for any brain damage this would cause.

With all of the hospital stays, medical treatment, speech, occupational, and physical therapies the bills were beginning to rapidly increase by the day.

“Brian and I soon found ourselves drowning in hospital bills that two teachers had no way of paying,” said Emily Asanovich, mother of Brady.

With the help of the Dylan Earven Foundation the Asanovich’s were given enough assistance to get them back on their feet which gave them a little peace of mind to be able to truly focus on their family and get another chance of being able to live their normal everyday routine.

For the past five years the Dylan Earven foundation continues to impact the lives of many families of any child that faces a serious sickness, injury, disease, or cancer. The foundation holds various events throughout the year to continue to fundraise for the families affected in the area, including the most common event held every September for Childhood Cancer Awareness month in remembrance of Dylan- the annual bike raffle and run.

This past year the foundation was about to collect a whopping 205 bikes whereas the first year of this event only 20 bikes were donated, the community has since given nothing but immense support for this cause.

“I think this foundation stands for a great cause helping the parents of children affected with food, transportation, and lodging. The run definitely brings the community closer together each year, “ said Toni Payne, Globe resident who has attended the event each year.

With the continuous support from the community the foundation is able to simultaneously raise awareness to fight childhood cancer along with being able to help families like the Asanovich’s keep their head held high to continue the fight. “We would not be able to do what we do if we didn’t have the support of our family, friends, and wonderful community, those who supported us from the beginning of Dylan’s journey to helping us let his legacy live on,” said Angela Andrade, founder of Dylan Earven Foundation.

Although Brady is still on seizure medication with frequent check ups to monitor brain growth and activity he is now back to being a happy, healthy, energetic little boy who lives to make others laugh and smile with him.

For every family touched by the Dylan Earven Foundation, they receive a shed of light, comfort, and form of security to ensure another day, as Dylan would say himself, “It’s a beautiful day!”
