Injured hiker rescued on Round Mountain

Posted

On Sunday, April 14, rescue crews from Globe Fire Department and Tri-City Fire District were called upon to rescue an injured hiker at Round Mountain Park.

The hiker experienced a lower extremity injury that required crews to use a stokes basket to evacuate the patient from the park.

Other hikers in the area were able to point the rescuers in the right direction which helped speed up the operation.

A total of nine personnel was used to complete the rescue effort.

The Globe Fire Department and Tri-City Fire District would like to remind everyone enjoying the great outdoor activities available in the Globe-Miami area to do so safely.

Always make sure that you have plenty of water.

When you engage in outdoor activities by yourself, make certain that someone is aware of your location and when you are due to return.

Be aware that snakes and other wildlife are likely to be out as well.
