The High Desert Middle School 8th grade girls came away with the championship at the Central Junior High League tournament on Saturday, Oct. 12. The tournament was once again hosted by San Carlos. The HDMS 8th grade girls entered the tournament seeded second with a 7-2 record. The Lady Tigers defeated Eloy in two sets in the semifinals. In the other semifinal, Superior won in three sets against Mountain Vista. In the championship game, the HDMS 8th grade girls won in two sets to claim the title. The HDMS 8th grade team members are: Alicia May, Shaunice Tarango, Briana Stevens, Emilee Satter, Cai Cooper, Estella Maes, Karly Sanchez, Audra Burdette, DaVeigh Garcia, Moriah Renteria, Myranda Patten, Layla Thompson and Qualiyah Nosie. The Lady Tigers’ coaches are: Head Coach - Suzy Morales and Assistant Coaches - Teresa Sanchez and Kara Satter. The HDMS 7th grade girls also made it into the tournament, but were knocked out in the first round with a tough loss to Cibeque.
