The Gila County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center received a 911 call in reference to shots fired at a residence on the Bar X Road in Tonto Basin on June 22.
Deputies along with Detectives from the Gila County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office Posse, the Gila County Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force, Arizona Department of Game and Fish along with Tonto Basin Fire Department responded to the scene. Deputies along with Emergency Medical personal found one subject deceased inside of the residence.
The deceased individual has been identified as Terri Lou Haught, 51, of Tonto Basin, Ariz. Next of kin has been notified.
Destry Alan Haught, 49, of Tonto Basin, Arizona was arrested for manslaughter and booked into the Gila County Jail in Payson, Ariz.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. Sheriff Shepherd would like to thank the Sheriff’s Office Posse, the Gila County Drug, Gang, and Violent Crimes Task Force, the Arizona Department of Game and Fish and the Tonto Basin Fire Department for their coordinated response. Sheriff Shepherd extends his condolences to the family and friends during this difficult time. Our thoughts are also with the first responders who responded to such a tragic and difficult call.
