Graduation or bust for the class of 2020

Posted

The grandstands in Globe, Miami, and San Carlos won’t be full of proud parents this weekend. Balloons and roses won’t align a stage of awards for the class of 2020. Hats will not fly for this resilient class that has waited their whole lives for this prestigious moment, but there will be pomp amid all this circumstance.

The class of 2020 has proven to be a strong class that unfortunately had to give up their class trip, Senior banquet, and Prom due to a global pandemic.

Graduations have been planned for each school, with some appearing virtually for family and friends. Miami High School has planned a virtual graduation this year. Tomorrow, Thursday, May 28, graduates will line up along Ragus Road in their vehicles and will be handed their diplomas through the vehicle window. Then on Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m. a virtual graduation will be posted on the district website at www.miamiusd40.org

San Carlos Unified School District presented a virtual graduation video on youtube honoring the class of 2020 and all their hard work.

Globe High School has planned a graduation ceremony for June 25. On Thursday, May 21, Globe High’s 2020 class was able to celebrate their upcoming graduation with a graduate sign walk at Harbison field.

Eastern Arizona College held their virtual graduation on May 7.

In honor of the Class of 2020, the Arizona Silver Belt has collected several commencement speeches from our local scholars. We would like to wish the graduates the best of luck in their future endeavors.
