Globe to hold public hearings on Hill Street School rezoning

Posted

The former Hill Street School building might just see a new life as an apartment complex, and Globe citizens are invited to share their thoughts on that  prospect at two upcoming public hearings. The City of Globe has received an application to rezone the property, approximately .79 acres located at 450 S. Hill St., from a C-3 Central Commercial District to a Planned Area Development (PAD) Overlay Zoning District. The proposed rezoning of the onetime school includes a maximum of 70 residential dwelling units in the existing building and a proposed three-story building; a reduction of onsite parking requirements; and a reduction of the minimum required front and streetside building setbacks.

The Globe Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council are holding separate public hearings on this rezoning request; interested citizens are encouraged to attend both hearings and provide their input.

The Planning & Zoning public hearing will be held Wednesday, January 19 at 6 p.m. in the City Council chamber, located at Globe City Hall, 150 N. Pine St. The City Council public hearing will take place on February 8 at 6 p.m., in the same location.

If you have any questions in advance of the hearings please contact the City’s project manager, Dana Burkhardt, at (480) 229-8177 or dburkhardt@globeaz.gov. Copies of the application, General Plan and City Zoning Codes are available in the Development Services Director’s office, also located at City Hall. Handicapped individuals with special needs may contact Michelle Yerkovich, the City’s ADA coordinator, at (928) 425-7146 ext. 213 (voice) or (928) 425-5330 (TDD).
