Globe Tigers over all record now 8-3

GLOBE — The Globe Varsity boys basketball team raised their record to 8-3 with convincing wins last week over ASU Prep and Superior in Tiger Gym. 

In the ASU Prep game, the Tigers raced to a 29 to 6 lead after one quarter, led 51 to 14 at half and closed out the second half with a 45 to 12 run to finish with the 96-26 victory. 

BJ Burries netted 40 points, Martine Reede contributed 14, Braden Dalton popped in 12, and Brandon Pina and Cory Chee each added 10.  Daniel Widner and Jeremy Jones chipped in with 4 each and Nick Cassa netted 2 to close out the scoring.

In the Superior game, the Tigers led 39-9 after one quarter and cruised to the 96-28 victory over the visiting Panthers.  

There were 13 different Tigers that scored in the game with BJ Burries, Martine Reede, and Braden Dalton all hitting double-figures in scoring with 30, 14, and 10, respectfully.  Aaron Smith and Cory Chee added 8 each, Jeremy Jones chipped in 7, Rafael Dominguez hit for 5, Daniel Widner and contributed 4, Nick Cassa had 3, Michael Marquez, Cam Taylor, and Brandon Pina all netted 2, and Geron Como hit for 1 to close out the scoring.  

“We have really been hitting on all cylinders the last couple of weeks”, Coach James Simmons stated.

“We are sharing the ball and getting 4-5 players in double–figure scoring each game and our seniors and juniors are showing great leadership and a willingness to put the hard work and effort in to see how far this team can go”, Simmons added.

The Tigers will participate in the Copper Cities Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 28 and Friday, Dec. 29
