Between them, the Lady Braves and the Lady Tigers made up the All-Region First Team for basketball. Leading the list were Beyonce Cutter, also All-Region Offensive Player, and Alyssa Martin, the All-Region Defensive Player. Heaven Cosen and Aaliyah Haozous rounded off the San Carlos contribution. Kayla Howard of Globe also made the first team.

Cheridan Gooday of San Carlos made the All-Regional Second team as did Lady Tigers Laura Dalton and Shawna Talgo. Miami’s Jasenia Quezada also made the second team.

Lady Brave Courtney Henry got honorable mention as did Kayona Gilbert and Sissalle Kindelay from Globe and Jessica Garcia from Miami. Crystal Pietila, of San Carlos High School, was voted coach of the year.

For the boys, Globe’s Robert (BJ) Burries made the All-Region first team as well as being named the Region Player of the Year and, not surprisingly, as a scoring record holder for the whole state. Louis Ironshell of San Carlos and Miami’s Matt Escobedo also made the First Team. Tigers, Daniel Widner and Cory Chee and Jayden Goss of Miami made the second team.

Globe/Miami/San Carlos dominated the Honorable Mentions. Seven out of the 12 spots were taken by students from the three schools. Brandon Pina and Aaron Smith were prominent on the court for Globe. Three players from Miami earned Honorable Mention: Tanner Peery, Matt Riddle and Michael Troglia. San Carlos players Cameron Mull and Eliah Victor also made that list.

Globe girls honorees, (l-r) Coach Emily Belvado; Sissalle Kindelay; Laura Dalton; Kayla Howard; Kayona Gilbert, and Shana Talgo.
