Globe High School musicians attend Honor Festival

On Wednesday, Jan. 30, several Globe High School students attended the Honor Festival for the music department. It took place at the Eastern Arizona College Fine Arts Auditorium in Thatcher.

The students chosen were:

Honor Band: Kirsten Allinson, Camille Hudson, Dylan Nordin, and Raven Stevens.

Honor Orchestra: Blaise Preston.

Honor Choir: Trinity Lopez, Sara Murry, Krista Ramos, Viktoras Sangster-Biye, and Mia Verdugo.

These students were selected by band director Allie Tolman to perform with the multi-school honor band, honor orchestra, and honor choir. The event helps students with their music education, meet others, and helps them improve at what they play.

They spent the day learning the music they would perform that evening. The band, choir and orchestra performed at 4:30 p.m. for an audience of peers, parents and teachers. Several of the students said they were nervous, but overall, they had fun.

Sophomore, Vik Sangster-Biye, said it was exciting and “Singing in a room with only three people I knew was a little nerve-wracking. I didn’t know what to say to the people around me, considering that the people who knew me were around the room away from me. But after all the rehearsing and warm-ups, honor choir students were shocked with the incredible performance with 20 different schools.”
