Gila County Board of Supervisors approve senior citizens funding

Posted

The Gila County Board of Supervisors approved an economic development grant for $150,000 to Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens (PGCSC) at their Oct. 10. Using a fair and equitable formula, PGCSC will distribute the funding to senior centers across Gila County, making sure the funding goes to support services for seniors countywide. For the first time in recent years, the 17-18 Gila County budget guarantees this funding for local seniors by making it a line item. Supervisor Humphrey called the move “a great step forward,” adding that it would provide relief for senior centers to know what funding to expect each year. Supervisor Cline said, “This will give senior centers across the county a huge boost.” Pictured L to R are Supervisor Humphrey, PGCSC CEO Olivia Guerrero, Advisory Board Member for the Council on Aging Dottie Sanchez, PGCSC Board Member Barbara Nancarrow, and Supervisor Woody Cline.
