GHS students visit Reid Zoo

Students were able to see the huge popsicles created for the animals.

Globe high school students were able to learn behind the scenes at the Reid Zoo in Tucson, Ariz. on Feb. 4, 2020. Thank you to the Freeport teacher grants for providing this funding. Students learned and watched as a veterinarian serviced an animal in the clinic at the zoo. The zoo education team taught about the biology of animals with hands-on activities. The team was able to show us the operating room, veterinary clinic, pharmacy and kitchen for the animals. Students were able to see the huge popsicles created for the animals. We learned about dietary and health information on the animals. Students took data on their animal observations.

This was an first time experience for students and staff to be behind the scenes and have a meaningful learning experience.
