GHS library raising funds for furniture project

Globe High School library is in need of some furnishings to update the library environment and entice students to spend some time there reading and studying.

To accomplish the purchase of new furniture and decor, the librarian Wendy Hankin applied for and received a grant from Lowe’s Toolbox for Education and is using the money to purchase study carrels, a book return cart, a laser printer cart, an area rug and some upholstered furniture.

However, even with frugal spending, the grant money is not enough to purchase all of the furniture and equipment the library needs. To supplement the grant, Hankin has created a Donors Choose fundraising project to raise money for the purchase of another colorful area rug; two high “bar stools” for use at an elevated computer table; a 10-port power station so students can charge laptops, Chromebooks, computer tablets and smartphones; and a loveseat and two comfortable chairs for seating while reading in the library. Often, donations are matched by Donors Choose business partners. The project is titled Comfortable Furniture for Pleasure Reading.

Any parents, community members, business owners and/or GHS alumni who would like to contribute toward funding the project may do at
