Gerald (coach) Matschullat was born Sept. 25 , 1928 in Nebraska to Henry and Adeline Matschullat. He was the second of three siblings. He played eight man football in high school as well at Peru college where he obtained a teaching degree.

In 1950 he married Arlene Lowe who was also a teacher. After their only daughter Christie was born in 1955 and they moved to Globe in 1957.

Jerry and Arlene both taught in Globe until they retired. Jerry also coached track and football for many years. As we all know he and Arlene had a great passion for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. He routinely followed their program and could quote without hesitation all the vital statistics of every football player.

He is survived by son in law Tommy and three grandchildren Nicholas, Christopher, Victoria, along with three great grandchildren River, Dean, and Hazel.

Services will be Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Globe.
