Geneva L. Phillips, age 74, of Globe, Arizona passed away on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at her residence in Globe.
She was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma on Oct. 2, 1946, to Ernest Phillips and Vera (Beliele) Phillips.
Geneva passed the Wonderlic ATB program in January 1998, then attended Eastern Arizona
College for applied science, graduating with her associate’s degree in May 1998.
She worked in temporary positions; Gila County Records Office assisting with voter registration cards, receptionist at Tags Tax Service and self-employment home care for seniors. Geneva enjoyed studying
genealogy, reading books and watching movies, and loved taking walks. Some of her hobbies included taking photos, reading mystery books and doing puzzles.
Geneva was born with extreme scoliosis and was in Shriners Hospital from the ages of 9 through 14 to have a spinal bridge bone of her back done; it was a complete success.
Geneva loved life, her family and her daughter Shelly, grandkids and great-grandkids. Geneva lived in Globe for many years and all those who have seen her walking have said they will miss seeing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Vera Phillips, her brother Delbert Phillips, sister Veda Schwerd and nephew Todd Schwerd.
She is survived by her brother David Phillips, sister Linda Phillips, daughter Shelly Ramirez, grandchildren Jon Calhoun and Stacy Calhoun, and great-grandchildren Delaney Calhoun, Odetle Calhoun, Berny Badillo and Alden Calhoun.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, from 3 – 5 p.m. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe.
Interment of ashes will be held privately.
