Globe High School wrestlers traveled to Coronado High School in Scottsdale on Dec. 7 and 8 for the Fourth Annual Titan wrestling invitational. The Tigers were going up against many tough wrestlers from 25 other schools who were state qualifiers and were seeded in the tournament. The Tigers performed well, placing eighth overall as a team.

Freshmen John Martinez, Angel Hernandez and Refugio Gerardo wrestled against the many experienced upperclassmen and managed to make an impact and gained respect based on their performance. Sophomore Jonathan Ortega had a tough weight class and fought his way back into the tournament and placed 17th.

Sophomore Seth Durbin wrestled in the #132 class and placed first. He dominated his weight class by pinning all his opponents under two minutes. Durbin’s fastest pin was nine seconds. He was nominated "Outstanding Wrestler" in the tournament.
