Globe — What looked like a good start for the Tigers (after having a failed on side kick), the Florence Gophers on their 2nd play of the game, fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Globe Tigers. With good field position for the Tigers did not do them any favors as they were unable to move the chains and were forced to a booming punt by Cline. Gophers respond with a long completion down field  for which 2 plays later result in a Gophers first touchdown (9:12 1st quarter).

Next possession from the tigers ends with a 3rd down sack on Mikeworth and another forced punt. Next gophers possession results in a 41 yard touchdown pass (6:55 1st quarter) 13 to 0 Gophers. Marqus Ortega with a good kick off return sets up the Tigers on there own 25. Mikeworth with a beautiful long pass attempt  down field to Cline was incomplete as the Florence defender got  a hand on the ball. Next play Mikeworth takes another sack in the backfield leaving Globe 3rd and a mile. Burgett gets some needed real estate up field but not enough to convert, Tigers forced to punt. Gophers start at their own 39. Jeremy Jones with a nice stop on a run up the middle by the Gophers runningback, however 2 plays later Gophers get their 3rd touchdown of the game (1:32 1st quarter). Tigers starting at their own 21 leads to another 3 and out with a punt taking a tiger bounce setting the gophers up on their own 32 yard line bringing us to the end of the 1st quarter.

Gophers on the next possession moving the chains with the run game however are stopped in the end by the Globe defense forcing a gopher punt. Tigers starting from the 20. Mikeworth drops back and takes his 3rd sack of the game and again on a keeper in the backfield.

Tigers punt, and Cline delivers a monster hit on the returner (facemask takes Gophers further back). The Gophers giant quarterback taking a shot down field where it was intercepted by Dominguez! Tigers take over from their own 44 (6:22 2nd quarter). Mikeworth with a nice completion to Durbin. Burgett with some power running getting the needed 2 yards to convert (along with another facemask penalty going against the Gophers). Tigers in the red zone but with a sack in the backfield puts the Tigers at the gophers 25. Brings us to 3rd and 15 with Mikeworth dropping back and firing to the end zone where he meets Maybury on a dive and roll catch for a Tigers touchdown (4:12 2nd quarter score:19 to 6 Gophers)! Onside kick attempt going in the Gophers favor. Gophers starting from midfield where they fumble on the Tigers 42 yard line where Tigers recover the ball. 3 and out for the Tigers leading to a Tiger punt. Gophers taking a long shot down field where Durbin displays good defense against the much taller receiver. Gophers returning back to the run game resulting in  another touchdown (1:46 2nd quarter score: 25 to 6). Globe with some craftiness on the kick return going with a reverse for a decent return and receiving more yardage due to another facemask penalty going against the Gophers.

Ortega opens with a completion for 5 yards but being called back due to a Tiger penalty. Mikeworth takes a shot down field where it was picked by the Gophers.

Gophers end up capitalizing on the turnover, gong back to the passing game resulting in another touchdown (0:59 2nd quarter score: 31 to 6 gophers) . Gophers continuing to penetrate the line with Mikeworth taking another chance down field where he is picked off again, where the Tigers defense holding off the gophers and closing out the first half.

3rd quarter starts with Tigers receiving the ball and starting from there own 23. Burgett with a 2 yard run up the middle followed by a 7 yard Maybury catch with Globe in desperation mode going for it on 4th but are unable to move the chains. Gophers quickly capitalize and get their first touchdown if the 2nd half (10:11 3rd quarter score: 37 to 6 Gophers). Another 3 and out forcing the Tigers to punt. Gophers next possession ends with a 67 yard touchdown run (8:28 3rd quarter score: 44 to 6 gophers). Another 3 and out for the Tigers punting the ball away on 4th and 10. Durbin continuing to shut down the Gophers passing game, leading the Gophers to go back to the run resulting in big blocks and another Gopher touchdown (5:48 3rd quarter score: 50 to 6 Gophers). #8 Avirum Curiel for the Tigers with a nice return into Gophers territory. On 3rd and 8 Mikeworth with a 25 yard completion to Cline moving the chains Tigers 1st down. Curiel with a run up the middle getting another Tiger first down. Tigers with a first and goal from the 4 yard line. Tigers end up with a 4th and goal from the 3 where they elect to go with a pass play resulting in a Gopher interception. Gophers next possession ends up with a 42 yard touchdown run (Tigers with a block on the extra point)(6:03 4th quarter score: 56 to 6 Gophers). Tigers next possession ends the game. Final score 56 to 6 Gophers.

The Tigers loss was merely from the Gophers just plain being bigger, faster, and stronger.

It truly is hard to believe that a 3A division team can produce all these type of players. Players that who I felt were out to hurt the tigers (2 players did not return due to injuries) with their vicious hits and multiple facemask penalties.

The Tigers may however not be bigger, faster, or stronger, but definitely posses toughness as it was displayed on the field. I truly have to say that these young men gave it their all.

They got knocked down hard, but every time got up and played like humble warriors.
