Fire strikes Globe motel

Saturday night, a fire at the Economy Inn in Globe led to the evacuation of over 20 people. Eighteen evacuees, along with four dogs, were briefly given shelter at the Gila County Fairgrounds. Globe Fire Chief Gary Robinson said the fire, which led to a partial roof collapse, was in a common attic space of the motel. It was contained to the portion of the building adjacent to Quality Tire, with firefighters preventing its spread to other parts of the motel. Robinson said the cause of  the fire is under investigation.
