Service with a smile: From left, brothers Jonas Schwenk, 11, and Simon Schwenk, 8, both of Globe, serve pie to guests during the Gila County Ministerial Association’s annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, held Nov. 21 at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Globe. Pastor Bill Norton, with First Presbyterian Church in Globe, said that an estimated 250 people were served, with about 80 of those being home deliveries and 20 meals sent to “our alternate dining facility at Divine Grace Presbyterian Church so that folks in Miami who couldn’t travel to Globe to have a Thanksgiving meal.” Norton said it was the second largest event in 10 years, with the biggest event at 275 served. In other community Thanksgiving events, the Copper Hen Restaurant, in Globe, held its third annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, serving about 130 people on Thanksgiving Day. Our Lady’s St. Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving Dinner also served about 125. Photo by Carol Broeder.
