Family left homeless after mobile home fire gives thanks

Dear Editor:

We are one of the families that was left without a home due to a recent fire at The Oaks Mobile Home Park up on Top of the World, and we just thank the many people that came to our aid.

I have to give God a lot of credit for laying our predicament on people’s hearts and the fact that they responded.

Sadly, we lost everything, but the clothes on our backs and our cars. I always thought if you had insurance that you wouldn’t need help but after 8 weeks we are finally getting insurance help. Our friends and neighbors at the park came first but as the word spread Sparky’s V.W. friends came as well. Every day more love came. I want to name the people but I am afraid I will leave someone out as that time was a blur.

My nephew had come down form Alaska a few weeks before this happened and bought a place up here so we had a place to stay. The guy that lived next door to him decided to move only a week after the fire, so we were able to get his place. So many people stopped by with food and there were clothes, toiletries and dishes, towels, and furniture.

It was hard to feel sad because of the outpouring of kindness but to top it off… my husband has his Sparky’s V.W. Shop and his customers that have become good friends, put on the car show in Miami. It was like a memorial to Sparky and he cried a lot. Thanks so much for taking the time in 2 weeks to get the donations and pull this off. It is a memory of a life time. Thanks also to the businesses that took part in donating items for the rifle. We will never forget this or all the people involved.

Our hearts are blessed and there is no need for a memorial service when we die. We already had one!! Thanks also for the guys that helped with clean up and to any and everyone else. We can’t thank you enough. Thanks!

Sparky and Judy
