Disc golf fans: Meet DISCover Globe

Stephen Palmer and others who enjoy a round of disc golf are designing an 18-hole course that rambles around the rough and perimeter of the city of Globe’s Community Center ballfields near Besh-Ba-Gowah. Seven months ago they convened as the DISCover Globe group on Facebook, which you’re invited to like and follow in order to learn more about their plans, share photos or videos and get an invite to their next in-person DISCover Globe meet-and-greet. They met late last Saturday afternoon, an hour chosen to allow those enthused to check out the course for a round of play after the meetup.

Palmer said the point of the Saturday gathering was to discuss the course – “Where it is now, what we can do to make it better and the layout. What is your favorite hole? What makes it your favorite? Can we build upon that with other holes? What’s the best day to play as a group? What’s the best time/day for meetings?” – and to have a good time. “This is an informal meeting; please be yourself,” Palmer added. “We set the time at 4 p.m. so we can play a round after if people want to.”
