Deborah Lynn Ortiz, 68, of Miami, Arizona passed away on Aug. 21, 2021. She was born March 5, 1953 in Miami. Debbie was an outgoing person and enjoyed life.

She attended Miami High School, where she played softball with many of her classmates and then went on to graduate in 1971. In her junior year of high school she met her soon-to-be husband, Irving. After graduation they got married, found jobs and Debbie gave birth to her first son, Matthew.

Debbie enjoyed being outdoors and taking part in activities such as camping, boating, fishing and 4-wheeling. She really loved spending time with her family and many of her friends. When her husband bought their first motorcycle, there wasn’t enough time to go riding but they made the most of what time they had, going to as many places as they could visit.

Debbie worked for Magma Mining and BHP for several years. She learned all aspects of the mining work and continued to work her way up to the open pit crusher operator position, which in her words was the best job there was. A few years later she hurt herself on the job and that would force her to get a medical retirement. Her health slowly deteriorated over the many years while both her husband and son, Andrew, cared for her up until the day the Lord called her home.

Although people may not have known Debbie that well, she really loved her two sons Matthew and Andrew very much. She was just as kind and loving to her work family as she was to her own family and will truly be missed by those who loved her. I (Irving) will miss her the most.

Deborah is preceded in death by her parents George and Georgia Sairtan, sister Barbara, brother Mike and son Matthew.

She is survived by her husband Irving Ortiz, son Andrew, nieces Shalana and Amanda, nephew Jaird and several grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the American Legion in Globe, Arizona.

Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
