David Lionel Montoya passed away with family members by his side on the morning of June 5, 2018, after a battle with Cancer. David “Mike” was born on Feb. 9, 1951, to Lorenzo and Barbara Montoya. He is a long-time resident of Globe and graduated from Globe High School. He went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Thailand for a majority of his service during the Vietnam Era. He then returned to Globe to marry Cindy Holguin, and began his long career with the local mines, and also, attended Gila Pueblo Community College.

David was a generous and very kind person who was an avid sports and music lover, who played baseball in his youth, and also, enjoyed spending time with family, his brother Charles who lived with him, and friends whenever possible. David loved his pets, and left behind two dogs, Poppy and Pancho.

David is survived by his brothers Charles of Globe and Lawrence Montoya of Mesa, and sisters Cecelia (Mike) Mowery of Casa Grande, and Sara (Don) Felt of Pennsylvania, and his three children, Melanie (Janette) Montoya of Show Low, Michael, (Amanda) Montoya of Gilbert, and Linda (David) Goode, of Gilbert. He also has 5 grandchildren, Ivan, Sonia, Anjannette, Jasmine, and Roman, that he loved dearly.
