Posted

Our beloved father, brother, uncle and friend to many, Danny Garcia (1932-2019), of High Point, N.C. passed away Feb. 20, 2019, from heart failure at High Point Medical Center.

Danny was born Dec. 5, 1932 in the small copper mining town of Morenci, Ariz., to the late Daniel and Paula Garcia. Danny was also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, older brother Manny Garcia and nephew Greg Garcia of Winston Salem.

In 1936 the family moved to Globe, Ariz., where Danny graduated from Globe High School, lettering in basketball, football and baseball. He enjoyed playing sports but especially loved mentoring his younger brothers and the many neighborhood kids who always seemed to show up. Danny moved to High Point in 1952 where he met and married his soulmate and constant friend, Carolyn Kennedy. They raised two children in High Point, Teresa (Terri) Garcia and Tony Garcia. After retiring from Globe Furniture in High Point, Danny started his own custom furniture business and also became a professional tax preparer for many clients in and around High Point until his passing. He was a lifelong dog lover and became a loyal fan of the UNC Tarheels, Terri’s alma mater.

He is survived by his children Teresa and Tony; brothers Rudy Garcia (Donna Cooley) and Bobby Garcia; nieces Jenifer Smith, Anne Pruitt, Emily Smith; nephew Josh Smith, all of Tucson, and nephew Kevin Garcia, of San Francisco. Danny was an outgoing, kind, gentle soul who will forever be in our hearts.
